A new Panorama section – Mondovi Italy Panorama
Written on December 5, 2006
I’m a huge fan of panoramic photographs and although I’m not anywhere near as professional or fanatical with them as these guys, i do dabble in it from time to time. I decided that i take so many photos to make panoramas that i might as well have a section to highlight them instead of burying them in my photo gallery.
I will try to include the technical specs of how i did took the photos as well as how they were put together. I do not have any special equipment besides my digital camera and my computer so some of them are pretty good some could be better, all of them were fun to take
A few will need the QuickTime although I will try and post the raw JPG image for those of you who dislike downloading software. However I would strongly recommend you download QuickTime as viewing the images as JPG’s don’t do them justice due to the Field Of View (FOV).
Mondovi Italy Panorama

This first panorama was from the old city hill above the new town of Mondovi Italy. The hill overlooks the Province of Cuneo and gives you a spectacular 280 degree view from the French alps in the left or west of the photo, to the snow capped Italian alps in the hazy center and finally the Piedmontise plains to the right or east. The photo is looking mainly N to NW. Napoleon is said to have stood here and remarked that this was the most beautiful place on earth, and on this lovely September day I would have to agree with him.
The photo was shot with a Canon PowerShot S410 (4MP) at 1600×1200 by hand (hence the slannnnnntttt).
I took 9 photos and stitched them together using PTMac 4.1
